About
Global Kidney Foundation was founded in 2018 by Mrs. Eunice Ogbebor, a philanthropist and a Chronic Kidney Disease survivor. It was birthed by the strong concern of seeing people suffer going through the pain of kidney failure and not knowing what to do. Young and old individuals were seen giving up hope thinking their lives were coming to an end. As a Chronic Kidney Disease failure survivor, it was her desire to have a platform where she can bring hope to those who need it and to enlighten the world on things to do to keep their kidney healthy. Knowledge is power. With the right knowledge you can prevent yourself from certain health hazards and also be of help to those in need of treatment.
During Mrs. Ogbebor’s past treatment, she made multiple visits to Nigeria and was in a very difficult situation, because she could not find a proper dialysis facility to go to for her regular weekly visits. She considered herself privileged to have access to proper health care in the United States of America, where she was appropriately treated and eventually received a kidney transplant. She is a living example that kidney failure is not the end of the world, and has taken it upon herself to provide this quality treatment opportunity to those who don’t have access or funds to receive dialysis treatment. As a result of her strenuous visits to Nigeria, she could understand what other people who don’t have access to flying abroad for treatment are going through not just in Nigeria only but in various parts of the world. This has been a major burden in her heart which led to the building of the dialysis facility in Abuja, Nigeria and also to the creation of the Global Kidney Foundation.
Now we are opening this foundation to the world as a source of hope to anyone who cannot afford proper dialysis
treatment.
Dialysis treatments are very pricey and it’s so difficult for patients from low income families to keep up with their weekly treatments. Let alone being able to obtain a kidney transplant. That’s why Global Kidney Foundation was founded to be a bridge of hope to a healthy future for kidney failure patients, especially for those with low income. It is our desire to give full treatment to qualified candidates totally free of charge.
Matthew 19:26 "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible".
We believe that together we can save dying patients from Chronic Kidney Disease.
Let's redefine their future and change the world.
Our Mission
Our mission is to build a bridge of hope for patients who suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Our goal is to drastically reduce the death rate caused by CKD. We also provide no cost medical services for those who qualify and cannot afford to get quality treatment. In the continent of Africa, Asia, America and the world at large, over 80 percent of CKD patients die due to lack of adequate care and support, which makes it an extremely difficult situation for their families and even the society.
Global Kidney Foundation is here to stand in the gap to create awareness about the devastating effects of Chronic Kidney Disease around the world. We desire to make great positive impact in the lives of our patients and educate as many people as possible.
During the global COVID-19 pandemic Global Kidney Foundation has also made it a part of our mission to provide food for those in need.
Our Vision
A healthy people build up a healthy society. Over the years, due to the high cost in health care it has been difficult to tackle Chronic Kidney Disease. We have lost great potential leaders and talented individuals in various parts of the world, because they couldn't afford keeping up with proper treatment. That is why we have put in place a modern and well-equipped dialysis facility in Abuja, Nigeria- which is one of Africa’s largest nations. This center has been giving low priced and even free dialysis treatment to patients. With adequate support, we intend to create an access and transplant center within the facility where we can give patients with severe cases excellent care and even a transplant if required. This center will help facilitate the treatment of those who qualify to receive dialysis treatment at no cost.
Our vision is to see people recover and get their lives back, and to educate everyone to know that kidney failure is not a death sentence. With adequate treatment and proper diet, you can live your life to the fullest and be a major positive influence in the society.
